I am so thankful for all my travel experiences since becoming a mother. First, there were the amazing trips alone with Romy when it was just us. From long weekends in the Bahamas and Miami to Paris, London, and even ski trips. This was followed by our travels with Tim, bringing a whole new energy to our adventures. We explored Ireland through long hikes and took trips to Iceland, which I never would have done alone with Romy when she was still little. Then, the first of four was very special: our first trip to Cannes as a family. Our trip as a family of four to LA was booked months before he was born, and we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into- travelling for 12 hours with a 4-month-old baby was definitely a wild move. However, all the lasting memories it created made the family feel cemented and united. Lastly, there were the trips just for George, Tim, and me when Romy was away at camp or with Robert. These trips were great when George was under 2, as he could fly for free!
But just a few weeks before George’s 3rd birthday, I realised I had never taken a trip alone with him. So, I decided to book a weekend in Paris to visit my mom, taking George with me. I truly wanted to share this unique experience with him, as it fosters a special bond. I didn’t want to miss the brief age window to enjoy all the fun activities in Paris with a toddler. Taking those 3 days off just for him and me was one of the best things I’ve done with him since he was born. It wasn’t easy to explain this to Romy, even though she was spending that weekend with her dad. But since the day she was born, I have taken many trips alone with her, even after George was born (to NY and LA) and that amazing trip to Japan with Tim.
