Leaving NY was like a heartbreak. It felt like leaving a partner that you still love but that doesn’t lift you anymore, and with whom you feel the story came to an end and change was necessary to grow. It was still painful and the end of a love story, the end of a chapter. I think the hardest part was saying goodbye to a very specific time of my life. I became a mother there, and before meeting Tim, it was Romy and I alone since day one, for eight years. It wasn’t easy all the time, but it was still an amazing time of my life.As much as I love the family life that I have now—two kids, a home, something that feels real—and wouldn’t change it for a second, I do often think about the life I had in NY with Romy.
