COUTURE DIARIES
A SHORT BUT EFFICIENT TRIP TO PARIS
PARIS COUTURE DIARIES
I had not been to Couture Week for years. In contrast with Ready-to-Wear, Paris during Couture Week always feels heightened. Less is more at its best. A three-day schedule, with time to enjoy Paris in between shows or presentations, allows for mostly appreciating the craftsmanship that couture is all about.
I arrived the evening before, one of the perks being that I could visit my mom, stay at hers, and have some quality time before we each hopped onto our different schedules. I barely saw her for the rest of the stay. Matsuri sushi and canned Negroni cocktails have become a tradition while catching up and gossiping.
Day one was mostly dedicated to fittings and running Parisian errands—Monoprix and French pharmacies are always must-stops so I can stock up on my favorite products, and, of course, French books for George! When I had a moment to myself, I love squeezing in a quick stop at Doki Doki on Rue Marbeuf—their rolls are absolutely the best, and it’s so convenient, right in the heart of everything.
